Heritage Open Days on Dartmoor. “Heritage Open Days 2010” will take place in September. This well established, popular annual event is co-ordinated by English Heritage is one of England's biggest and most popular voluntary cultural event. It aims to give people the opportunity to visit and enjoy England’s wonderfully diverse architectural and cultural heritage. Thousands of events take place across the country and give people a chance to visit sites and buildings which are not usually open to the public or that normally charge admission, and all for free! Last year over 1 million people joined in the fun. So, why not come along and take part in the activities this year.
The Dartmoor National Park Authority has arranged a number of specific events as its contribution of this national, heritage celebration. To complement the “Going for Bronze” exhibition running at the High Moorland Visitor Centre there will be two long walks to provide further insight into Dartmoor’s extensive Bronze Age archaeology. Or you could join in with a visit to an outstanding example of a medieval Dartmoor longhouse and experience how this very special house has changed over the centuries.

East Dartmoor National Nature Reserve - Further up Stream. A historical look at the Bovey Valley Woodlands rounding the river Bovey futher up stream. If you are interested in this free trip please post a note in at the Tourist Information Cetre, Station Road Car Park stating how many people wish to come. Please meet for this free trip at 3pm in the Bovey Tracey Heritage Centre, Station Rd near Jeffrey’s. You will need to be prepared for a 2 hour walk and will need to bring your own refreshments.
